WHAT IS ROYAL FAMILY KIDS CAMP?
Royal Family Kids Camp is a summer camp for kids in foster care. Currently there are 240 camps across the world. RFKC is volunteer based, with a retention of 85% of its volunteers returning the next year. Five percent of all foster care children in the United States will go Royal Family Kids Camp.

WHY IS THIS CAMP SO SUCCESSFUL?
Well... it all starts with a child. Lane County alone has 1,400 children in foster care. To become a part of the foster care system, each child will have most likely been abused, neglected, or abondoned. At RFKC we provide love, care, support, and encouragement to each and every child. With a 2 to 1 adult-to-child ratio, we know that these children come away from camp knowing they are important to us. Through camp they find out they are a part of a family, no matter what their current home or family situation is like.

WHAT IS ROYAL FAMILY KIDS CLUB?
Royal Family Kids Mentoring Club takes kids from that summers camp and invites them to attend a monthly 2 hour club. These clubs consist of elements from camp, songs, puppets, bible lessons, games, snacks and crafts. Each child that participates in the club are paired with a mentor who was also at camp that summer. The mentor commits to attending the monthly club meetings and spend 4 hours outside of club with their mentor buddy.

WHY IS THIS MENTORING CLUB SO SUCCESSFUL?
Research has shown that after just one year of mentoring a child has more confidence in school, gets along better with family and friends and is less likely to use alcohol or drugs and to skip school. And children who are at risk benefit even more from mentoring than other children. The abuse or neglect that children in foster care experience is from a failed relationship. Royal Family Kids Mentoring Club is designed to sustain relationships with children of abuse. RFK's mentoring club is unique because the children and their mentors already have a shared experience and have began the process of building trust through the week long camp when the club begins.
